Waxed Cotton Canvas

Halley Stevensons — Scotland

A fabric forged in over 150 years of Scottish expertise.

Based in Dundee, Halley Stevensons is one of the world's foremost producers of waxed cotton and weatherproofed fabrics. Founded in the 1860s, they have spent generations refining their craft, developing bespoke machinery and processes that no other manufacturer can replicate.

We use their waxed canvas because it is genuinely weatherproof, ages beautifully, and only gets better with use. The natural cotton is responsibly sourced, and the low-impact manufacturing process reflects our commitment to materials that are made to last, not made to be replaced.

Every roll is rigorously tested for quality and performance. The result is a fabric with unmatched character: structured enough to hold its shape, supple enough to soften with time.

02

Ballistic Nylon

Korea

Born on the battlefield. Built for a lifetime of travel.

Ballistic nylon was originally engineered by DuPont during the Second World War to protect airmen from fragmentation and shrapnel. Its distinctive 2x2 basket weave and heavy-denier Nylon 6,6 construction gave it extraordinary resistance to tearing and puncture — qualities that made it invaluable in conflict, and indispensable in premium luggage ever since.

We source our ballistic nylon from Korea, where specialist mills produce it to exacting standards. Woven at 840 to 1680 denier, it offers an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, resistant to abrasions, rips and the rigours of checked baggage conveyor belts.

It is, quite simply, one of the toughest fabrics available for luggage. We use it where durability is non-negotiable.

Spinner Wheels

Hinomoto — Japan

Silence, precision, and decades of smooth rolling.

Hinomoto is a premium wheel manufacturer based in Nagoya, Japan, and the choice of the world's most respected luggage houses. Their spinner wheels are engineered to a standard that most manufacturers never reach.

At the core of every Hinomoto wheel is a sealed ball bearing system wrapped in multi-layered polyurethane or silicone-rubber composite, reducing rolling noise and vibration by up to 70% compared to standard luggage wheels. The material has a natural memory, meaning no flat spots develop even after months of storage. Hardened steel axles and high-density polypropylene housings ensure the wheels absorb impact without cracking on rough surfaces.

When you wheel your case through an airport terminal, you will understand why we chose Hinomoto.

YKK VISLON & Metal Zips

Japan

The detail that defines the whole.

A zip is opened and closed thousands of times over a bag's lifetime. We do not cut corners here. Our zips are crafted from brass, aluminium or nickel alloy elements, individually stamped and set into the tape with precision. The result is a zip with satisfying weight, smooth action and exceptional longevity.

YKK zips have been the mark of quality luggage and leather goods for generations. They require no compromise, just a commitment to doing things properly.

Every material we use is chosen with intention. To learn more about how we build our products, visit our About page or get in touch.
